Roger Clark is Professor Emeritus in Sociology at the College. He received his B.A. in sociology from Swarthmore College, his M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University. He retired from full-time teaching in 2020 after 42 years as a professor at Rhode Island and Nichols Colleges. Previously, he, and his wife, Beverly, had started and taught at a high school in the Fiji Islands as Peace Corps Volunteers. He continues to teach social research methods courses at the College. To date, he has published 99 articles and book chapters, 53 co-authored with students, on a variety of topics in sociology. He has also co-authored three books, two on research methods, one about the sociology of gender. Since Bev died in 2021, he has worked on his own grief, and that of others, through his participation in and facilitation of grief support groups at HopeHealth Hospice of New England.
